Encinal is 10-0 against Tennyson since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Encinal Jets will head out on the road to challenge the Tennyson Lancers at 7:30 p.m. Tennyson took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Encinal, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Encinal didn't have too much breathing room in their match against San Lorenzo, but they still walked away with a 59-54 win.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 25-25 at halftime, Tennyson was not quite Mt. Eden's equal in the second half on Friday. Tennyson lost to Mt. Eden at home by a decisive 64-50 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tennyson in their matchups with Mt. Eden: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite their loss, Tennyson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Paolo Barroga, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Matthew Lorje was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Encinal's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Tennyson, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.
Everything came up roses for Encinal against Tennyson when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 74-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Encinal since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
