The biggest upset of the week belonged to Valley Christian, who took down 76th ranked Valley Christian, 42-28.
Mike Lauck * and Alex Andrighetto provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Sacred Heart Cathedral. The connection was good for 83 yards, the longest such play in West Catholic this season.
St. Francis's dynamic duo of Lauck * and Brycen Carbonel proved tough for the Fightin' Irish to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lauck * threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns and Carbonel had 92 yards receiving. Andrighetto helped St. Francis' passing attack out by catching two balls for 84 yards.
Kirk Johnson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In nine carries, he ran for 108 yards as the Warriors bested Sacred Heart Cathedral. Teammate Jay MacIntyre added to the ground attack by rushing for 77 yards.
St. Francis' Lauck * and Austin Woodard * have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lauck * has thrown for 827 yards this season, while Woodard *, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 12 catches for 266 yards. Ryan Severson from Valley Christian leads the league in rushing with 527 yards.
A big matchup in West Catholic this week will be when Archbishop Riordan takes on Serra. At the moment, the Crusaders are in fourth, while the Padres are in first.
Nick Navarro's team moved up to 169 from 215 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 28-0 win over John Lee's team helped the Lancers improve their standing.
