The Northridge Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Grandview Heights Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northridge has now lost 17 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 1.
St. Francis DeSales hit Northridge with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings came up short against the Stallions, falling 7-0.
Northridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kadance Adkins, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
Meanwhile, Grandview Heights posted their closest victory since April 9th on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Bexley. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.
Ejheni Mdivanian spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, Tatum Lusher was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Caroline Harwood, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Grandview Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Grandview Heights' win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Northridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-19.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Grandview Heights struggles in that department as they've averaged .401. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Northridge's way against Grandview Heights when the teams last played back in March of 2023, as Northridge made off with a 22-0 victory. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
