Softball Game Preview: Madison Academy Mustangs vs. East Limestone Indians

Madison Academy is a perfect 4-0 against East Limestone since February of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Madison Academy Mustangs will be taking part in a tournament against the East Limestone Indians at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Thursday, Madison Academy made easy work of Brindlee Mountain and carried off a 14-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, East Limestone entered their tilt with Priceville on Thursday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Bulldogs 11-3. The Indians not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7th.

Abby Thompson looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last six matches.

On the hitting side, East Limestone got a massive performance out of Miami Wilcox, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs Wilcox has posted over her last seven games. Another player making a difference was Kailey Matthews, who went 3-for-4 with one home run.

East Limestone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Priceville only posted a batting average of .250.

Madison Academy pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Limestone, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.

Everything went Madison Academy's way against East Limestone in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Madison Academy made off with a 15-8 victory. Will Madison Academy repeat their success, or does East Limestone have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
