The Astoria/VIT Rebels were the 52-49 winner over the Rushville-Industry Rockets when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Astoria/VIT took a 48-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockets on Wednesday. Astoria/VIT has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Astoria/VIT's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaden Foglesong, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Sherrod, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Astoria/VIT has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Rushville-Industry, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13.
Astoria/VIT will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Illinois (Cuba/Spoon River Valley is ranked 609th, while the Rebels are ranked 619th). As for Rushville-Industry, they will head out on the road to challenge the Cyclones at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
