The Hancock Central Bulldogs lost against the Johnson County Trojans back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Hancock Central was the victim of a tough 41-20 loss at the hands of Johnson County. Hancock Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.
Hancock Central's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dontriel Grable, who gained 109 total yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Solomar Battle, who threw for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Johnson County can attribute much of their success to Benvonte Murray, who rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Nathan Turberville also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Hancock Central has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Johnson County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hancock Central will take on Greene County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greene County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hancock Central in Georgia (Greene County is ranked 152nd, while Hancock Central is ranked 400th). As for Johnson County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Washington-Wilkes at 7:30 p.m. Washington-Wilkes is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
