The Freeport Bulldogs will face off against the Destin Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Freeport is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Freeport made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Rutherford, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went Freeport's way against Rutherford on Monday as Freeport made off with a 12-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

The team relied heavily on Ryan Darrow, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. He has become a key player for Freeport: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Wade Digges, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Darrow wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Freeport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Destin, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Paxton on Monday.
Vance Kirby was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Palmer Robbins was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Freeport's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Destin, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Freeport's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. Freeport has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Destin, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Freeport continue to outrun the ball?
Freeport couldn't quite finish off Destin when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can Freeport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
