Neoga has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Neoga is ranked 563rd, while Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City is ranked 579th).
Last Tuesday, Neoga came up short against Farina South Central and fell 38-28.
Even though Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City has not done well against Farina South Central recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City managed a 54-48 win over Farina South Central. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was the better team in the second half.
AJ Radloff was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Gage Lorton was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Neoga's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, they pushed their record up to 9-11 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Neoga came up short against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 60-50. Can Neoga avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
