Two dominant signal callers in Cooper Miller and Grant Clemens are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wallace Miners will welcome the Coeur du Christ Academy Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, everything came up roses for Wallace against Clark Fork as the squad secured a 58-22 victory. The Miners haven't had any issues with the Wampus Cats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Wallace relied on the efforts of Henry Larson, who gained 178 total yards and three touchdowns, and Lennox Radford, who picked up 175 receiving yards and one TD. Radford really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 80 yards.
Wallace was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Wallace didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Reece Williams and Simon Sodbat. Wallace got some further help from Marley Pearce: he made 15 total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Coeur du Christ Academy faced Deary in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Saints simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mustangs 50-22.
Coeur du Christ Academy's win came from a few key players Wallace will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jon Denke, who rushed for 235 yards on only 13 carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 119 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Greg Hayes, who picked up 186 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Wallace's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Coeur du Christ Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Wallace has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 280.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Coeur du Christ Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 177 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Wallace strolled past Coeur du Christ Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 50-36. Will the Miners repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
