Basketball Recap: Cedaredge Comes Up Short

Cedaredge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-59 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gunnison Cowboys. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cowboys apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Cedaredge lost, don't look at Josh Scott. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Those 19 points gave Scott a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cruz Alejandre, who posted four points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Cedaredge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Cedaredge's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Gunnison, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Cedaredge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-38 win against Meeker on the 11th. As for Gunnison, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-55 victory against Olathe on the 11th.
