The Red Mountain Mountain Lions will square off against the Queen Creek Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Red Mountain is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
Red Mountain's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Dobson with a sharp 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mountain Lions, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jimmy McCarthy looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Derek Wilson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since March 5th. Another player making a difference was Hagen Wright, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Red Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Queen Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Higley 1-0 on Thursday. The one-run effort marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
AJ Ramirez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Tait Reynolds was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Red Mountain pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Queen Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
