The Pocahontas County Warriors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Union 69-33 on the road. The victory was some much needed relief for Pocahontas County as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pocahontas County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Calli Propst, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Propst hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Olivia Vandevender, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chanelle Sutton, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Sutton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Carr, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Pocahontas County's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7. As for Union, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pocahontas County will take on the Tide at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sherman is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Union, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Devils at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Calhoun has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
