The Legacy Longhorns's game on Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past Amplus Academy 62-2 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Legacy has managed all season.
Legacy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shalena Mesiona led the charge by scoring 13 points along with seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Gines, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Legacy's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 8-8. As for Amplus Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Legacy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Eldorado at 6:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Eldorado comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Amplus Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Somerset Academy Losee at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Somerset Academy Losee's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Amplus Academy has been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
