The Hartsville Red Foxes suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of North Myrtle Beach by a score of 53-50. While losing is never fun, Hartsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while North Myrtle Beach is ranked 34th).
Despite the defeat, Hartsville had strong showings from Dorian Knowles, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds, and EJ Smith, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Knowles has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shahquan Pendergrass, who scored five points.
Hartsville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for North Myrtle Beach, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Hartsville on the road again on Monday and play against Lee Central at 8:00 p.m. on January 15th. As for North Myrtle Beach, they will take on South Florence at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
