Baseball Recap: Nyssa Drops Highest Score of Season Against Umatilla

Nyssa extended their losing streak to 12 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 2-17 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Umatilla Vikings. On the bright side, the eight- run effort marked the Bulldogs' highest-scoring contest to date.

As for Umatilla, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

For Umatilla's part, Carter Monahan was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Monahan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nyssa will face off against Baker/Powder Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Umatilla, they will square off against McLoughlin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
