It was a good run, but the Atholton Raiders unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Howard. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Atholton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Camden Thibeault, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Shaheed, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
Atholton's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6. As for Howard, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Atholton will head out on the road to face off against Glenelg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Glenelg: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Atholton has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road. As for Howard, they will take on Centennial at TBD on Monday. Howard knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Centennial likes a good challenge.
