The Molalla Indians will square off against The Dalles Riverhawks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Molalla is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Molalla will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Gladstone, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Indians blew past the Gladiators 9-3 on Wednesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 22, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Camdyn Morey was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Morey was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Nyxon Hopping was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Grant Brusseau was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Molalla kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, The Dalles made sure to put some runs up on the board against Estacada on Wednesday. The Riverhawks had just enough and edged out the Rangers 11-10.
The Dalles is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Molalla, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.
Everything went Molalla's way against The Dalles in their previous meeting last Monday, as Molalla made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Riverhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
