Basketball Recap: Chariho Victorious

Prout came into Monday's game looking for another win against Chariho, but Dayton Lee wouldn't allow it. The Chariho Chargers secured a 76-72 W over the Prout Crusaders on Monday thanks in part to Lee, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten boards. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Another player making a difference was Aidan R, who posted ten points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

Charlie Horne and Ryan Antonucci certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Horne went 8 of 15 on his way to 24 points, while Antonucci went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, Horne is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Mike Brugnoli was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Chariho's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Prout, they moved to 6-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chariho will square off against Narragansett at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Chariho is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for Prout, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Block Island at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Prout knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Block Island likes a good challenge.
