Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact the Orland Trojans proved on Friday. They came out on top against Oroville by a score of 51-42. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Orland also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Orland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zach Story, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Story has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Jordan Lister was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Oroville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Broussard. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaime Ramirez, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Orland's win bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Oroville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orland will square off against Corning at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Corning focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Friday. As for Oroville, they will head out on the road to square off against Central Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
