On Friday, everything went Eastern Guilford's's way against Providence Grove as Eastern Guilford made off with a 62-36 win.
Eastern Guilford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Johnasia Tatum led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven steals and five assists. The contest was Tatum's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Herbin, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Providence Grove's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JADA NIXON, who scored 14 points. LEELA VONDERHEY was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Eastern Guilford now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Providence Grove, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.
Eastern Guilford and Grimsley will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Grimsley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday. As for Providence Grove, they will be playing at home against Chatham Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
