In what's become a running theme this season, the East Laurens Falcons gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They really took it to Jefferson County for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-23 win at home. With East Laurens ahead 38-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
East Laurens' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zahmaria Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robinson has scored all season. Jayla Givens was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Jefferson County saw an underclassman step up: Jaelissia Reeves scored seven points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
East Laurens is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Jefferson County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-15.
East Laurens will head out on the road to challenge the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully West Laurens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for Jefferson County, they will be playing at home against the Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Bleckley County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Warriors in Georgia (the Royals are ranked 183rd, while the Warriors are ranked 499th).
