Sumner had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Pine Raiders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-1 last Tuesday.

Sumner's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Pine, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Sumner has already played their next game, a 10-0 loss against Zachary on the 22nd. As for Pine, they will welcome Springfield at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine is facing Springfield at the right time seeing as Springfield is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
