The Skyridge Falcons will venture away from home to challenge the American Fork Cavemen at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Skyridge's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Westlake as they made off with a 10-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Falcons sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Rip Roberts made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kason Muhlestein, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Miles Robinson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Skyridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, American Fork faced Pleasant Grove in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cavemen were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Vikings. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cavemen.
Tege Kelley looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Beckett Hardman was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Harry Gardner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
Skyridge pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for American Fork, their record is now 15-4.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Skyridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. However, it's not like American Fork struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Skyridge might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from American Fork in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
