Goose Creek (S.C.) received a huge boost from its defense against Beaufort (S.C.), as the unit scored 14 in defeating Beaufort (S.C.), 65-14.
The Gators were up 51-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
Dantez Bennamon touchdown pass to
Caleb Kinlaw in the first quarter.
Goose Creek expanded its lead to 58 points entering the fourth quarter. GC scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by Kinlaw.
With the win the Gators extended their winning streak to six games. Goose Creek defeated the Silver Foxes 28-17 last week.
Bennamon stood out for GC in the win. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown, ran for two touchdowns and kicked one extra point. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
Led by
Gerald Turner, the Gators had given up an average of 12.2 points prior to the contest.
A 31-19 Goose Creek victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Beaufort, which notched a 42-28 victory over Carolina Forest in its previous outing.
Goose Creek (6-0) will play a non-conference game against Carolina Forest next week, while Beaufort (3-3) will take on Bluffton in a AAAA Region VIII game.
