East Rutherford can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 44-13 win over Patton on the road. Given East Rutherford's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Patton is ranked 522nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
East Rutherford relied on the efforts of Taniyah Cash, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Jada Whitesides, who scored 11 points along with six steals and five assists. Whitesides has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Kadence Vanover was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, R-S Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Patton, posting a 49-8 win at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory R-S Central has managed all season.
East Rutherford's victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for R-S Central, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
Everything came up roses for East Rutherford against R-S Central when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 63-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Rutherford since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
