Smith Academy is 0-5 against Trinity since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. After only 23 points in their last game, Smith Academy made sure to put some points up on the board against Pierceton Woods Academy last Wednesday. Smith Academy took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 55-20 victory over Pierceton Woods Academy. That 35 points margin sets a new team best for Smith Academy this season.
Meanwhile, Trinity struggled with assists on Tuesday (Elkhart Christian Academy had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Trinity lost to Elkhart Christian Academy at home by a decisive 46-28 margin. While losing is never fun, Trinity can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 420th, while Elkhart Christian Academy is ranked 200th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jacob Palmer, who scored six points along with four steals. Josh Heintzelman was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Smith Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Trinity, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
