Roma has won six straight games at home, while Mission has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Gladiators will host the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Roma 3.2, Mission 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Roma's victory against Cigarroa wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Gladiators had just enough and edged out the Toros 5-4 on Tuesday. While the Gladiators didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Meanwhile, Mission never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Juarez-Lincoln. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Judith Arroyo made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Maddie Garcia was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 contests. Ilia Fiscal was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Mission was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .750. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .533 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Roma's win bumped their record up to 9-3-1. As for Mission, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Roma suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Mission in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Gladiators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
