Softball Recap: Northwestern Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Northwestern had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the Reading Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Olivia Deane was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Addy Hensley, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Northwestern hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reading struck out nine times.

Northwestern pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Reading, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.

Looking ahead, Northwestern will challenge Shawnee on Wednesday. The Braves will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. Reading does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
