While losing is never fun, Macon-East Montgomery Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Hooper Academy is ranked 116th).
Despite the loss, Macon-East Montgomery Academy saw an underclassman step up: Omarion Wilson scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Wilson pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Keagan Roney, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Macon-East Montgomery Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Hooper Academy, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Macon-East Montgomery Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Glenwood at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th.
