After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Seventy-First, Pine Forest was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Despite the loss, Gray's Creek still got an impressive performance from Ezekiel Reed, who rushed for 243 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 73 receiving yards and a touchdown. Reed really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Alphonso Myers was another key player, rushing for 170 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Pine Forest's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Gray's Creek, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
After each having a week off, Pine Forest and Westover will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on September 20th. Westover will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Pine Forest surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gray's Creek, they will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Purnell Swett at 7:30 p.m. on September 20th. Gray's Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 point or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Purnell Swett likes a good challenge.
