Basketball Recap: Elijah Gordon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Olathe over Meeker

Olathe lost against Meeker back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Olathe Pirates fell just short of the Meeker Cowboys by a score of 59-57.

Olathe's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Gordon, who went 9 of 16 en route to 24 points and four steals. Gordon is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Gordon, who posted 20 points and three steals.

Drew Drake went supernova for Meeker, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Drake a new career-high in points. Said Rodriguez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

Olathe dropped their record down to 6-5 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Meeker, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-8.

Olathe has already played their next contest, an 82-61 loss against Roaring Fork on the 18th. As for Meeker, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-48 win against Gunnison on the 18th.
