On Saturday, Pike Central came up short against Henderson County and fell 53-46. While losing is never fun, Pike Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 311th in Indiana, while Henderson County is ranked third in Kentucky).
Several Chargers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julian Gish, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The contest was Gish's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Ridao, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Pike Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Henderson County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Pike Central will head out on the road to face off against Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Henderson County will be home for the holidays to greet Mercer County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mercer County's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
