The Pender Pendragons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They breezed by Stanton at home to the tune of 61-18. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Pender has managed all season.
Pender was led to victory by Trevor Trimble and Gannon Walsh. Trimble scored ten points along with six steals, while Walsh scored 13 points. That's the first time this season that Trimble grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Roth, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Despite the defeat, Stanton had strong showings from Tanner Simmerman , who scored four points along with five rebounds, and Gatlin Davidson, who scored a points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Stanton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pender pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
The victory was the third in a row for Pender, bringing their record for this year to 5-2. As for Stanton, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pender will be home for the holidays to greet Bancroft-Rosalie at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bancroft-Rosalie is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Stanton and Wisner-Pilger will face off on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Wisner-Pilger is ranked 263rd, while Stanton is ranked 276th).
