Zapata is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Palmview is on an 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Hawks will welcome the Lobos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Zapata barely beat Orange Grove the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks blew past the Bulldogs 11-1 on Tuesday. Zapata's victory was all the more impressive since the Bulldogs were averaging only 2.67 runs allowed on the season.
The team relied heavily on Jay Solis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Mario Garcia was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Zapata was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Palmview put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Juarez-Lincoln. The Lobos were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Huskies.
Rodrigo Duque was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Dyven Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Palmview's win bumped their record up to 10-3-1. As for Zapata, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Zapata came out on top in a nail-biter against Palmview in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Lobos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
