After a string of three wins, the St. Mary's Academy Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were dealt a 65-25 loss at the hands of Kent Denver. St. Mary's Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-9.
Despite the loss, St. Mary's Academy still got an impressive performance from Julia Stehno, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Stehno has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played.
St. Mary's Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Leading Kent Denver to victory were Austin Duncan and Anya Peper. Duncan scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, while Peper scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Peper has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Caroline Phillips, who scored seven points along with three steals.
St. Mary's Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Kent Denver, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
