Baseball Recap: Lake Wales Has No Trouble Against Lake Region

Lake Wales had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Lake Region on Friday. The Lake Wales Highlanders put the hurt on the Lake Region Thunder with a sharp 12-5 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-3 last Friday.

Melvin Bynes looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Lake Wales let Carter Franks and Carter Finnell run wild. Franks went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI, while Finnell scored a run while going 1-for-3. That's the most hits Franks has posted since back in March of 2024. Keaton Kohl was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Lake Wales has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Lake Region now has a losing record of 5-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Wales will square off against IMG Academy Royal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Region, they will take on Winter Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
