Basketball Recap: Zelden Chukes Key Part of a Team Effort in Bobcats Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Munroe duked it out withCommunity Leadership Academy on Tuesday. The Munroe Bobcats enjoyed a cozy 64-50 victory over the Community Leadership Academy Lions. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bobcats needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Munroe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zelden Chukes led the charge by putting up eight points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Chukes has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zy Reese, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Community Leadership Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Brown, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points. Another player making a difference was Bowman Holloway, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

The win made it two in a row for Munroe and bumps their season record up to 10-5. As for Community Leadership Academy, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-8.

Munroe will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sneads at 7:30 p.m. As for Community Leadership Academy, they will head out to face off against Tallavana Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tallavana Christian has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 183 points over their last three games.
