The Hazen Highlanders lost against the Mercer Island Islanders back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Hazen took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mercer Island. Hazen has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Highlanders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dakota Nap, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Nap hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Makenna Garrett, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Hazen now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Mercer Island, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hazen will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Interlake at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Mercer Island, they will challenge Bellevue at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
