The Fallston Cougars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged John Carroll out 44-41. For Fallston, this counts as revenge for the 40-27 loss John Carroll walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Fallston got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ayla Galloway out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Galloway has scored at least a third of Fallston's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Wirth, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Fallston has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for John Carroll, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fallston won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rising Sun at 6:45 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Fallston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Wednesday. As for John Carroll, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Mount de Sales Academy at 5:30 p.m. John Carroll is on a three-game streak of home wins, Mount de Sales Academy a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
