Cherokee County is 9-1 against Jacksonville since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Cherokee County Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Cherokee County is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
While Cherokee County's win against Ider wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came away the winners. Cherokee County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-35 victory over Ider on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Cherokee County has posted yet this season.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ashville 66-19 at home. The win was nothing new for Jacksonville as they're now sitting on three straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jacksonville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deasia Prothro, who scored eight points along with eight steals. Jayci Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Cherokee County is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Jacksonville, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Cherokee County didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Jacksonville when the teams last played on January 11th, but they still walked away with a 49-44 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cherokee County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
