After two games on the road, Troy is heading back home. They will take on the Beavercreek Beavers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Troy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while Beavercreek is ranked 47th).
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Troy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-33 loss to West Carrollton. Troy was down 39-18 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the defeat, Troy had strong showings from Kiyah Baker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Jayda Dillow, who scored ten points along with two steals. Dillow continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Beavercreek strolled past Northmont with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 64-47.
Troy dropped their record down to 6-15 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.4 points per game. As for Beavercreek, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Troy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-26 loss to Beavercreek in their previous matchup back in February of 2020. Can Troy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
