The Arlington Lions fell victim to the Ramona Rams''s stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 37-0 loss at the hands of the Rams. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Arlington in their matchups with Ramona: they've now lost six in a row.
Anthony Avina threw for 63 yards on three of seven attempts. Reece Contreras was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Koran Logan rushed for 46 yards.
The team won by holding Arlington to a paltry 96 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Ramona's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out 7.5 times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Luis Mena and his two sacks.
Arlington now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Ramona, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Arlington will be playing in front of their home fans against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ramona, they will head out on the road to face off against Norte Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Norte Vista will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
