Fans got a thrill when Steven Mumford and Nathan Mumford connected against Valley Catholic. The connection went for 88 yards, the longest such play in 2A Northwest this season.
Portland Christian extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Valiants, 50-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Portland Christian's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mumford threw for 191 and 3 touchdowns and Mumford had 124 yards receiving. On the ground David Guild chipped in 53 yards. Guild helped Portland Christian's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 67 yards.
He was 9-12 with 0 interception.
Guild was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 53 yards on 5 carries as Cal Szueber's team topped Valley Catholic. Chris Debusman also contributed to the rushing game with 51 yards on the ground.
The Royals' offense has recorded 122 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Gaston has permitted only 48 on the year.
An important game coming up in 2A Northwest this week will be when Portland Christian takes on the Greyhounds. As it stands, the Royals are in first, while Gaston is in fourth.

The Royals were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating the Valiants. Portland Christian came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.
