It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Carver Crusaders had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 49-27 margin over KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate. Carver's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Tyler Lennox was his usual excellent self, throwing for 355 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. Lennox hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jameson Helms, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Carver's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by James Callahan and Jack Balzarini who racked up four sacks between them.
Carver has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 10-0 record. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-3 Franklin County Tech and 6-3 Cohasset (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.8% over those games). As for KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carver will take on Hoosac Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hoosac Valley is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Lynn Vo-Tech at 4:30 p.m. on November 22nd.
