Basketball Recap: Karsten Buller Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

After losing to Wiley the last time they met, Eads decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Eads Eagles walked away with a 58-46 victory over the Wiley Panthers on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Eads' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karsten Buller led the charge by going 6 for 13 on his way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Buller a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadan Dunlap, who went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rhett McDonald, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 20 points. That was a full 43.5% of Wiley's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Kendale Mauch also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

The win got Eads back to even at 5-5. As for Wiley, they dropped their record down to 4-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Eads will challenge Stratton at 4:00 p.m. on January 24th. Wiley has already played their next game, a 57-50 defeat against Kit Carson on the 17th.
