The Sumter County Panthers were the 43-40 winner over the Cook Hornets when they last played one another on January 5th, but their luck changed this time around. Sumter County was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 49-48 to Cook.
Leading Cook to victory were Ny'shaun Wallace and Keshun McKever. Wallace scored ten points, while McKever scored ten points.
Sumter County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Cook, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10.
Sumter County will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Fitzgerald at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Fitzgerald knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Sumter County likes a good challenge. As for Cook, they will play host again and welcome Irwin County, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
