DeSoto has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Festus Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully DeSoto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
Last Friday, DeSoto came up short against Hillsboro and fell 60-49. While losing is never fun, DeSoto can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while Hillsboro is ranked 164th).
DeSoto's defeat came about despite a quality game from Aidyn Mitchell, who scored 21 points. Mitchell's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Evan Mcclinton, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Festus entered their tilt with Seckman with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Festus rang in the new year with a 66-56 victory over Seckman on January 5th. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
DeSoto's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Festus, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
DeSoto came up short against Festus in their previous matchup on January 2nd, falling 44-36. Can DeSoto avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
