Swain County made easy work of Rosman on Friday and carried off a 39-7 win. Swain County were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
The matchup started off well for Swain County, whose offense put up 21 first-half points. Rosman wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 7 to make it 21-7 heading into the break. The Swain County defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the matchup.
Swain County found Swain County's leader in underclassman sophomore Bryce Sain, who rushed for 214 yards and 5 touchdowns. In fact, with 11 tackles Langston was a force on both sides of the ball. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Hunter Burrell, who racked up 12 tackles. The victory was the 4th in a row for Swain County, as they raised their record to 5-3. Rosman are on a three-game losing streak that has brought their record down to 2-7.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Next week Swain County take on Murphy . Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Swain County and Murphy will really light up the scoreboard. Rosman will have some time to rest before their next contest, which is against Murphy in two weeks at 7:30 PM.
