The Bunker Hill Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Maiden, falling 62-24. Bunker Hill has not had much luck with Maiden recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Bunker Hill's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Damireona Burch, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Megan Starnes who scored no points.
Maiden found their leader in underclassman Khiara Culliver, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Culliver has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Raegan Rembert was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Bunker Hill's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Maiden, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-7.
Bunker Hill will head out on the road to take on Newton-Conover at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Maiden, they will be playing at home against Lincolnton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
