MAIS AA District 2 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Leake Academy extended the longest winning streak in MAIS AA District 2 this week by beating Winston Academy, 28-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Rebels.
Leake Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,373 from 6,565. The improvement was the result of 28-14 victory over the Patriots last week.
Oak Hill Academy's dynamic duo of Riley Pierce and Bradley Allen proved tough for Immanuel Center for Christian Education to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Pierce threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns and Allen had 66 yards receiving. Drew Riley helped Oak Hill Academy's passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.
Tanner Crosby was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 87 yards on nine carries as Canton Academy bested Immanuel Center for Christian Education. Chauncey Goodman also contributed to the rushing game with 79 yards on the ground.
Zach Warren made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Panthers beat Manchester Academy. The senior recorded one fumble and racked up one sack.
Thanks to the talents of Crosby and Goodman Canton Academy has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Crosby leads the league in passing with 570 yards, while Goodman has rushed for 838 yards this season. Oak Hill Academy's Allen leads the league in receiving yards with 196 on nine catches.
The Rebels led the league in scoring this week after putting up 28 points on Winston Academy.
